United Gilsonite Laboratories appointed former Scotts Miracle-Gro executive James Tates as CEO.The move is effective July 5.
Current president Thomas White stated his intention to retire, effective Dec. 31, 2016.
Tates most recently held the position of president U.S. West Region & Latin America at The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company. He holds an MBA from Villanova University, Villanova, Pennsylvania and a BS from State University of New York, Cortland, New York. In addition to Scotts, he worked for Philips Lighting Company, Newell Rubbermaid and Novartis Consumer Pharmaceuticals.
“The board of directors were unanimous and enthusiastic in appointing Mr. Tates to be the next CEO of United Gilsonite Laboratories. Mr. Tates is the right person to build on UGL’s history and core strengths and successfully lead the company into the future,” said Thomas White, UGL retiring president.
