Three months after being taken over by private equity firm Swander Pace Capital, Swanson Health Products has hired Katie Doyle as chief executive officer.
Doyle was previously senior vice president at Abbott Laboratories, where she led the nutrition business across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. In that role she was responsible for $3.2 billion in revenue across a portfolio of brands across the nutrition and healthy-snacking sectors. Before Abbott, Doyle worked as a senior partner at McKinsey & Co., focusing on consumer companies in the U.S., Europe, Africa and Asia.
Swanson sells both nutritional supplements and beauty supplies, including antiaging products, argan oil, bath salts, cosmetics, facial cleansers, hyaluronic acid, shampoo and soaps.
“I believe in the power of healthy living to improve people’s lives and of direct channels to make it easy to educate, engage and buy,” said Doyle in a statement. “Swanson, as the recognized leader in online and catalog marketing of healthy living products, has a unique opportunity to lead the way towards healthier lives and, in doing so, to become an even more vibrant, growing and profitable business.” Doyle succeeds Ken Harris.
“The company is extremely well-positioned to take advantage of trends in healthy living, natural and organic lifestyles and a more active, aging population,” said Corby Reese, managing director at Swander Pace, in a statement. “Katie’s vision, strategy and execution track record is exactly what Swanson needs as it enters its next chapter.” San Francisco-based Swander Pace took over Swanson Health in January.
