Sur La Table has named a new chief executive with extensive digital experience.
The kitchen goods retailer appointed Jason Goldberger as CEO and as a member of the board, effective immediately. He succeeds Billy May, who left Sur La Table in June to become chief customer officer for the J.Crew brand.
Most recently, Goldberger was with online diamond jewelry retailer Blue Nile, where he served as president, CEO and board member from May 2017 to February 2019. Previously, from January 2016 to October 2016, Goldberger served as chief digital officer and president of target.com.
"Jason is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in the retail industry, including a strong merchandising background in the housewares and kitchen categories,” said Kevin Keough, board member, Sur La Table, and managing director with Investcorp, which acquired the brand in 2011. “He has a proven record of driving digital transformations and implementing competitive market strategies at several well-known retail brands, which will be invaluable as we continue to pursue the strategic growth opportunities ahead for Sur La Table.”
Sur La Table operates more than 130 stores nationwide as well as an online destination. The company also operates the largest non-professional cooking school in the United States, offering cooking classes from kitchens located inside more than 80 locations.
