Chief Executive Officer transitions are one of the most critical events that companies experience, which ‒ if not handled properly ‒ can have negative effects at all levels of the organization and may significantly impact a company’s growth, profitability and culture. Herbert Mines Associates has been retained for 60 recent CEO transitions for public and private equity-backed companies across the retail, consumer products and hospitality sectors for transitions involving planned succession, forced departure, and acquisitive situations. As experts on CEO recruitment and selection, we are attuned to the talent trends and implications inherent in these transitions.
For our 2015 annual study, we tracked CEO transitions from 2008 to 2015 in 158 public, U.S. based retailers with annual revenues greater than $500 million. During this period, 116 of these companies experienced a CEO transition, resulting in a total of 168 transitions.
