Client: $2.5B Market Cap in the Apparel Sector
The Challenge: Our client needed a global merchandising route-up leader capable of being a short-term CEO-successor. To remain competitive in the global marketplace, the company sought a leader with global perspective and fast fashion expertise.
The executive would be responsible for the strategic direction of the brand from a merchandising, design, and merchandising planning standpoint. He/she would also have responsibility for providing counsel on brand marketing strategies and directing visual merchandising initiatives in-store. Lastly, the placement needed to be a highly credible partner to the CEO to ensure continued support for the company from the investment community.
The Outcome: After a market scan of global fashion merchants, Herbert Mines Associates effectively recruited a strong global merchant executive out of a multi-billion dollar specialty retailer with global scope.
The placement had deep merchandising expertise from almost three decades with his current company, where the executive was responsible for the overall product strategy as well as design, merchandising, inventory planning, and production. Of particular relevance, the placement was also responsible for the company’s sourcing subsidiary business with ownership for the supply chain model that enabled it to compete in the fast fashion market.
