Gene Manheim
Gene joined Herbert Mines Associates in 1998 as Managing Director. Gene's executive search practice focuses on retail, fashion, and consumer products and services. In addition, Gene leads the firm's E-Commerce/Internet practice.
Gene joined HMA from Sullivan & Company, a division of Heidrick & Struggles. Prior to entering the executive search business, Gene was a principal in a private real estate firm. He specialized in commercial real estate development, consulting, and leasing in the retail sector. In addition, he co-founded an international apparel manufacturing concern with factories in Central America. At the time of its sale, the company employed 800 people producing goods for major U.S. retailers.
Earlier in his career, Gene practiced law and was also appointed by Governor Lowell Weicker to the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Development Authority.
Gene earned a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and received his law degree from Syracuse University. He is a member of the New York and Connecticut bars.
Gene
serves on the National Retail Advisory Board at
Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management. In addition, in 2008-09, Gene assisted the Obama Administration with its staffing needs for key roles in the Departments of Treasury and Commerce.
Gene and his family live in Connecticut.
